Profiles

An overview of profiles and how they are used in Strategic Workforce Planning.

The system uses profiles to convert weekly calculations to daily calculations, daily calculations to hourly calculations, or hourly calculations to quarter hour calculations. Profiles must be configured with the appropriate spread to inform the calculation on how to apportion time when converting between these different time periods.

The Profiles section is divided into two pages:

Setup

Use the Profiles Setup page to create profiles with attributes and profile attribute groups.

Create profile attribute groups

Create Profile Attribute groups with associated Profile Attributes.

  1. To create a profile attribute group, click Add.
  2. In the Profile Attribute Group Form, enter a name and click Save.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create additional groups.
    1. To add values to the appropriate profile attribute, click and select the appropriate attribute.
    2. From Column Attribute, make a selection.
    3. Click Save.

How to add a profile attribute.

To add a profile attribute, perform these steps.
  1. Select the appropriate group and click Add Profile Attribute.
  2. Enter a name.
  3. From Matrix Dimension, select either of the following:
    • No - Does not allow you to add a column attribute.
    • One Dimension - Allows you add a column attribute after creating the profile attribute.
  4. From Type, select one of the following:
    • Day to Quarter Hour
    • Day to Hour
    • Week to Day

Import profile groups

Steps for importing file groups.

Profiles > Setup

  1. Select Import.
  2. Browse to or drag and drop the appropriate file.
  3. Select Save.

Export profile groups

Steps for exporting file groups.

Profiles > Setup

  1. Select Export.
  2. Select Notifications to view the entry for the exported file.
  3. Select the entry.
  4. The Notifications / Details page appears. Select Download the file.
  5. The browser will report when the file is fully downloaded. Browse to the appropriate location on your system.

Use the Profiles Manage page to filter the list of profile attribute values, edit existing attribute values, and import or export profiles.

Use filters to refine the list view

Use the Profile Attribute Value Management page to set effective-dated values for profiles. Use these filters to refine the list of attribute values:
  • Group - Select the appropriate profile attribute group. To view all available groups, select All. Then, select a specific group to view its content.
  • Attribute - After selecting a group, select from its attributes.
  • As of Date - Select the appropriate effective date. The default value is today's date.
  • Location - Select the appropriate location.
Enter values
  • To add a new value based on the selected filters, click Add Value. The selected filters populate the corresponding fields in the Add Value pop-up. Click Save to add the value to the system.
  • To add values without selecting any filters, click Add Value. The pop-up opens to an all blank form. After entering all of the required information, click Save.
  • To update existing values, click in a cell and enter a value. The values are automatically saved.

Use one of the following methods to enter attribute values.

  • To add a new value based on the selected filters, click Add Value. The selected filters populate the corresponding fields in the Add Value pop-up. Click Save to add the value to the system.

Steps for importing profiles

Manage > Import

  1. Select Import.
  2. Do one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Drag and drop.Drag and drop the appropriate file into the box.
    Browse to file.Select Browse to browse and select a file from your system.

Export profiles

Steps for exporting profiles.

Manage > Export

  1. Select Export.
  2. To view and download the newly exported file, go to the Notifications page.
