Talk Settings

There are Talk settings and configurations you can view and edit.

How do I manage Talk notifications?

Push notifications alert you to Talk activity such as admin posts, task assignments, and comments on your posts.

You can manage notifications for some feed and chat activities by turning them on or off. For example, you can turn on notifications for any direct messages you get, new posts in any group you are a member of, and when someone @mentions you. Most notifications are on by default.

When you click tap a notification, it will take you directly to the post or chat within Talk. If you are logged out when you open the notification, you will be prompted to log in.

To manage Talk notifications in mobile

  1. Tap Menu > Settings > Notifications.
  2. Select (turn on) or deselect (turn off) the Notification Alerts as needed.
  3. When you turn on Notification Alerts, tap Feed and Chat to select or deselect the notifications for Talk activities.
  4. Tap Save.

To manage Talk notifications for desktop

  1. Click your user avatar or initials (top-right).
  2. Select Settings. The Settings panel opens.
  3. Select (turn on) or deselect (turn off) the notifications for Talk activities.
  4. Click Save.

How do I change the display language for Talk?

You can select your preferred display language for Talk headings, buttons, tabs, and other text. Over a dozen languages are available, including English (the default).

Note: Changing the Talk display language does not change the language of user-generated content you see in your feed, groups, and chat conversations. Those language changes are controlled by the inline translations. For information, see How do I manage inline translations?

To change the display language in Talk mobile

  1. Tap Menu > Settings > Language.
  2. Select another language from the list and tap Done.

To change display language for Talk desktop

  1. Click your user avatar or initials (top-right).
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Under Language Settings, click the current Display Language selection.
  4. Select another language from the list and click Save.

How do I manage Talk inline translations?

When the inline translation feature is configured for Talk, you can select your preferred inline translation language and enable translation of user-generated content like posts, comments, and chat messages.

For each individual post and comment, there is a View Translation button you click tap to see its translation.

To manage inline translations in Talk mobile

  1. Tap Menu > Settings > Language> Chat & feed translations.
  2. Search for and select the inline language, then tap Save.

To manage inline translations for Talk desktop

  1. Click your user avatar or initials (top-right).
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Under Language Settings, click the current Inline Translation selection.
  4. Select another language from the list and click Save.

To see inline translations in Talk

For each individual Talk post and comment, there is a View Translation button to see inline translations.

  1. Click Tap View Translation in each post you want translated into the selected language.
  2. Click Tap Show Original to revert the translated text.
Note: When the selected inline translation language is English, you will not see the View Translation button.
